*I am using BTN7971B for motor drive. A resistor is connected to Pin 5 (SR) to control the dead time. Should the resistance be large or small?

The dead time is generated automatically. So the high-side and low-side MOSFETs are not conduction at the same time.
SR resistance should be selected based on the requirements of power dissipation and EMC. The switching speed increases with a smaller SR resistance, but the EMC is getting better with a larger SR resistance. Therefore, we recommend our customer to select a proper SR resistance to optimize the balance between EMC and power dissipation.
