Export DAVE to IAR - assembly file doesn't compile

when I exported a working XMR4400 project to IAR, I was able to get all the files and paths setup and all the C modules compile, but the assembly file (startup_XMR4400.s) has errors on every .long, .macro, .section etc command when compiled in IAR. Apparently IAR doesn't recognize the GNU assembler syntax. Is there an option in DAVE to use an IAR compatible assembler?
