From DAVE v4, you can create a new DAVE CE project for the XMC1200. In this project add the UART APP. Select the UART app, and open up the app help. In the UART App Help, the Usage section gives an example that shows both transmit and receive. You will need to use different pin connections for the UART signals, and you an find this information in the Section 2.5 of the attached XMC1200 user's manual.
