On XMC4200 Application Kit, the CAN signals CAN_TXD and CAN_RXD are routed to P1.5 and P1.4 respectively via 2 switches.
These switches will disconnect the CAN transceiver from the port pins P1.5 and P1.4 in case a UART function is required. In other words, the UART function is overlaid with the CAN function on these 2 pins (Figure 1 Block Diagram of the CPU Board CPU_42A-V1).
The UART function can be used for external communication via a USB virtual COM port, which is supported by the on-board debugger.
The above details are stated in Pg12 of "Board_Users_Manual_CPU_Board_XMC4200_Actuator_R1+0".
Since the xSPY is using UART communication, you are unable to use it in parallel to CAN communication.
