Hi guys, one question, how can you relatate the mOhm rating of SiC with the Ic rating of IGBT to facilitate part selection?

It is very difficult to directly link the mohm rating to Ic rating in the application. Because Ic rating is coming from only conduction loss, there is no switching loss involved. If an application is switching loss dominating, then using the sic mosfet could give more current.

Hi powergeek.
beside the explanation already given by Yuan, there are two further considerations leading us to the decission of naming the SiC Mosfets according to the Rdson:
- this is already common for Silicon Mosfets
- contrary to an IGBT using a Mosfet provides a good trade off to safe conduction losses by investing in larger chip area. Hence in many typical SiC Mosfet applications customers are designing to meet efficiency targets and do not use the devices up to the limit of their current capabiliy.
